If you use RadioBOSS and haven't heard of TDR Molotok yet, you're missing one of the most powerful free plugins available for broadcast voice processing. It's made by Tokyo Dawn Records (TDR) — the same team behind TDR Nova and TDR Kotelnikov, names that speak for themselves in the mastering world.
What is TDR Molotok?
Molotok is a completely free multi-band compressor/limiter. Not freemium, not a limited demo — 100% free, no audio watermark, ready for professional use. The name comes from the Russian word for "hammer" — and indeed it hits audio peaks with surgical precision.
Why does it work so well in RadioBOSS?
RadioBOSS has a decent but limited native DSP chain. TDR Molotok integrates as a VST plugin in your microphone or mixdown processing chain, adding a level of control no built-in processor can match:
- Tamed sibilance: the high band (4–12kHz) is compressed independently — aggressive "s" sounds disappear without a separate de-esser
- Controlled lows: room noise, plosive pops, and parasitic low frequencies are handled by the low band without touching the voice body
- Consistent loudness: in long live shows, voice maintains uniform perceived volume even when the host moves closer or farther from the mic
