A radio that sounds good isn't only about music: it's about the right timing and the right voice at the right moment. That's exactly what RadioKit Timer and RadioKit Regia do — two tools built to work together around RadioBOSS. One handles the when, the other the how. The result is a real automatic control room, running 24/7.
In this article we go through everything they do — plus the brand new features that make them even more powerful.
🕒 RadioKit Timer — the schedule that runs itself
Timer is the brain of your programming. It runs on the radio's Windows PC, next to RadioBOSS, and starts things at the right time without anyone having to remember:
- Scheduled starts and stops: live shows, segments, automatic overnight, playlist switches
- Promos, jingles and stingers inserted at the times you set
- On-air countdown for speakers: it reads the RadioBOSS schedule and shows the exact seconds to the next slot
- Auto-start on boot: if the PC restarts (even after a Windows update), Timer restarts on its own and the radio is back on air
- Automatic updates: the app updates itself, no manual download
- Local link to RadioBOSS via HTTP API, publishing its status to radiokit.io in outbound-only mode: it works through firewalls and NAT, no port forwarding or VPN
🎛️ RadioKit Regia — control in your hand, wherever you are
Regia is the app that lets you drive the radio in real time, even from a phone or tablet, even when you're not at the studio PC:
- See and manage the RadioBOSS playlist remotely
- Push spots, beds and voices on air instantly, with one tap
- Record a voice from the mic and send it straight to the queue — with a live waveform, noise reduction, volume control and trim point
- Monitor what's on air right now
✨ The new features: voice-overs attached to a song
This is the feature that changes how you work. A voice-over is a voice — an announcement, a dedication, a spoken promo — that you want to play right before a specific track. With RadioKit you attach it once, and then it happens by itself:
- Pick a track from your library
- Record the voice (pro mic) or import a file, even one generated with AI/TTS
- From then on the bridge automatically inserts the voice before that track every time it goes on air in RadioBOSS
- No duplicates: a double check makes sure the voice is inserted only once, even while RadioBOSS refreshes the playlist
- Repeat N times: you decide how many of the next occurrences of the track should get the voice in front
Set it once, from Timer or Regia, and the radio "speaks" at the right moment on its own.
🎚️ 320 kbps MP3 recording
Voices recorded from the mic are now saved straight to 320 kbps MP3: high quality but light files (about half the size of a WAV), ready to go on air.
📁 Custom voice folder
You're no longer forced to keep files on the C: drive. You can choose any folder to store your voice-overs: when you change it, existing files and rules are moved for you, and the bridge automatically follows the new location. One tip: keep that folder on a drive that's always on while the radio is broadcasting.
🔗 Why together
The magic happens when the two apps talk to each other: Timer keeps the programming running, Regia gives you live control, and the attached voice-overs make the radio speak at the right moment. It's the same control room work you'd do in the studio, but automatic and always on — even at night, even when nobody's there.
🚀 Getting started
Timer and Regia come together: one activation gives you both. Timer installs on the radio's Windows PC; Regia runs on your phone or tablet for remote control. The trial lasts 15 days: request your keys from the site and they arrive by email.
